VRCX is a lightweight Windows utility positioned in the Social & Communication category that acts as an external friendship management layer for VRChat. By reading publicly exposed VRChat API endpoints, the application shows real-time friend status, instance locations, favourite groups, and past meet-ups without requiring the game client to stay open, letting desktop users monitor their social graph while working in other programs. The interface presents sortable lists, inline avatar thumbnails, and one-click invite or join buttons, streamlining the process of meeting friends across crowded VRChat instances. Advanced filters highlight who is in public, friends-plus, friends, or invite-only worlds, and a built-in notification tray alerts users when selected contacts come online or change worlds, reducing the need to refresh the in-game social panel. Session history is stored locally so players can retrace where they have been, whom they met, and which avatars were used, information that can be exported as csv for event organisers who need attendance logs. Because VRChat’s API rate-limits requests, VRCX queues queries and spreads them over time to avoid throttling, and an optional companion WebSocket component can push updates instantly once the initial handshake is complete. The program is delivered as a portable executable as well as a conventional installer; both formats update automatically through GitHub releases, and the changelog documents nineteen numbered builds culminating in the current 2026.02.11 version released on 11 February 2026. VRCX is available for free on get.nero.com, with downloads provided via trusted Windows package sources such as winget, always delivering the latest version and supporting batch installation of multiple applications.
